Review of hungryhouse by Weekend Notes
What’s your favourite day to order takeaway? Anecdotal evidence suggests everyday of the week, while order volumes shout Saturday! With so much life packed into our weekends, we need something to help us organize those precious two days when most of us don’t have to work. That’s where the website Weekend Notes steps in to help. A recent review of hungryhouse on www.weekendnotes.com reminds us that ordering takeaway online from hungryhouse is an essential part of of any weekend.
hungryhouse app; The Sun's app of the week
We recently had the good fortune of having our App featured in The Sun App of the week. Dave Masters reviewed our latest version of the App, 1.3.4. With this newest version you can sign in with your facebook login and we have fixed a few small bugs that customers had helped find.
This newest version is getting stellar ratings, so if you haven’t tried the app or haven’t updated yet, head over to the iTunes store and download the newest version.
Dave pointed out one feature that we here at hungryhouse sometimes overlook; “It really comes into its own when you’re in a new part of the country and fancy a bite to eat.”
A valid point as anyone who is in a unfamiliar place knows, finding a decent bite to eat can be a pain. At least with our nearly 200,000 user reviews, you have a chance of gaining some real local knowledge and finding a gem of a restaurant in the meantime.
In this day of digital madness and apps for everything, we were wondering if anyone had ever tried to live off of only apps. Sure enough a few months back The Sun Columnist Lee Price decided to do just that. We were curious to see how he handled eating if he could only use apps.
We were delighted to find out that he used our app to order his food, “For dinner I turn to the app from Hungryhouse.co.uk – local takeaway menus all in one place with food delivered direct to your door. Or in my case, warehouse loading bay…”
Not only did he use us to fulfil his dinner needs, but he managed to “Invite some friends down for a lads’ night in. I order in a banquet and some alcohol, again from the brilliant Hungryhouse app.” It makes us proud to see how one app can make someone’s night in (or week in Lee’s case) just that bit better.

How appearing on Dragons™ Den helps your business
The UK&’s takeaway marketplace hungryhouse.co.uk first appeared on Dragons’ Den, the hit BBC TV show, in November 2007.
Launched in 2006, hungryhouse.co.uk was projected into the limelight after a successful appearance on the fifth series of the business investment pro0 gramme.

Dragons' Den – what really did happen next?
Three years after hungryhouse co-founders, Shane and Tony, appeared on Dragons’ Den and received an offer of investment from Duncan Bannatyne and James Caan, Duncan and the BBC revisited our illustrious leaders to find out if hungryhouse could be ‘the one that got away’.

You can also watch our original appearance on Dragons’ Den in 2007 here.
The hungryhouse story since appearing in the Den has been an exciting one. We have expanded from 120 restaurants in mid-2007 to now list over 2,500 menus covering most of the UK’s major cities.
We’re well aware that this still leaves a big chunk of the UK to cover, so we are continuing to grow as quickly as possible. You can find a chart of our progress, here.
To propel us toward our goal of listing the most popular menus from every town in the UK, we are now looking for a second round of investment from venture capital organisations. Additional funds will allow us to grow even quicker, and also help us to introduce great new features – such as a mobile phone app to make ordering online even more convenient!
We’d also like to thank you, our loyal customers, for helping us lead a revolution in the takeaway industry. We’ve appreciated your support over the last 4 years and look forward to exciting times ahead.
At hungryhouse, we’re always looking for better ways to connect customers and restaurants. We have already seen that through transparent sharing of the information in reviews, our customers are benefiting from improved customer service.
The community of food lovers at hungryhouse, and the buzz that they create about the best local menus and tastiest dishes, is what keeps us excited about this business. It’s certainly a key aspect of our service that we plan to develop further…
