It’s amazing how powerful words can be. Say the word ‘yawn’ and get ready to yawn, read a well written takeaway review and expect to get hungry! As you can imagine, at reading and writing about food all day makes us a pretty hungry bunch here at hungryhouse, but Review of The Week winner Anna managed to write something that had me salivating by the the end!
Read on, but be warned, you might get hungry!
“Yum yum yum. The sweet and sour chicken is a sticky and caramelised concoction with the usual firecracker undertones of Chinese spices and an aromatic sourness that makes this a firm favourite for me. The organic chicken and cashews was nice, but the simple flavour is not what we are used to from the Firecracker kitchen. It lacked a certain addictive something, and was not helped by the surprise of spinach which only added to the dish’s wateriness. If your a nut lover, there are copious amounts of cashews to keep you happy though.
Egg fried rice was amazing as usual. You may think, how can a simple dish like that be described that way? But Firecracker have a certain knack of making the rich fluffy but sticky, golden, with a heavenly and kind of deep steaming bowl of rice aroma that tickles your basic prehistoric instincts for food! It even drives my puppy crazy and he doesn’t normally like rice! (he gets some too, spoiled puppy!) my only thought is it would be ridiculously good with spring onions (nudge!)
Also, thanks to hungryhouse, my bank have messed up my pin and they still cant figure it out which means i am usually cashless/cant buy stuff in a store. Ordering food online saved me from starvation cos I still cant get any money out!”
