New hungryhouse Restaurants in May

We love to welcome new restaurants onto the hungryhouse platform. We benefit from having a selection of tasty new dishes to try, but actually, sharing them with you is the best bit. We’ve all got our favourite pizza place and know the tastiest kebab joint around, but don’t you think its about time you discovered the best Charcoal chicken or Caribbean restaurant?

So without further ado, may we introduce to you the brand new and exciting restaurants on the hungryhouse platform this month!

Sri Banana Leaf

Kottu Rotti!

Kottu Rotti, a delicious mess! (via)

With the name ‘Banana Leaf’ evoking exotic beach shack scenes in the mind’s eye, we knew we were in for an exotic treat with this Sri Lankan eatery. The Indian curries you know are very different to these Sri Lankan dishes and the fusion of cinnamon and other warm spices, coconut, exotic fruits or veggies and rich meats make for some delicious and very distinct flavours. We can’t get enough of the potato stuffed masala dosa with it’s spicy-sweet ‘sambar’ sauce, or the flavour-packed mixed seafood kottu, a traditional and typical dish made with prawn, squid and anchovy all mixed up with roti. YUM.

Hickory Chickory

Hickory Chickory sure knows how to do chicken (via)

We love a rhyme almost as much as we love peri peri chicken, so Hickory Chickory is getting our chicken shop vote this month. In the words of the restaurant ‘it’s chicken time’ and my, what tasty chicken! We’re talking big, succulent wings and big fluffy burger buns fit to burst with spicy chicken fillets and breast. The meal deals have got dinner covered, but if you’re looking for a tasty lunch option we highly recommend the deli peri peri strips stuffed into a warm grilled pitta and supplemented by some fresh and tasty ‘green stuff’.

Ping On

You may think you’ve already got your favourite Chinese located, but we’re big believers in trying something new, whether it be simply a different dish or an entirely new restaurant, especially when we eat so much Chinese! When Ping On came onto the platform we went straight down the menu to the duck dishes in this scrummy Stockbridge Chinese. Fit to bursting with flavour, you won’t be disappointed by the roast duck in plum sauce or the tasty orange sauced equivalent. The shrimp chow mein is salty and delicious and if you have a teeny bit of room left over, fill it with the fresh lychees in syrup, the perfect sweet hit to top off a tasty feast.

Raindrop Cuisine and Jerk Centre

Delicious curried goat (via)

A little taste of the Caribbean is never a bad thing and this is real ‘tastes like mama makes’ Caribbean cuisine. From Calloo salt-fish to spicy curried goat, jerk chicken to flavoursome fried lobster, all your exotic tastes are catered for and the oxtail and butter bean with rice and peas to die for. You order isn’t complete without a traditional patty, whether it be lamb, chicken or cheese and if you think you can fit it in, the jollof rice is an additional taste you’ll be thankful for. We’re suckers for a dessert and the rum and raisin ice cream seems like a suitably Caribbean option – add a splosh of the read ‘good stuff’ and it’s a sure favourite!
