Love Food Give Food: £1,513 Curry Week Pledge

As you were tucking into your favourite Indian dish for National Curry Week, you were helping Action Against Hunger ‘get child hunger off the table’. From the 8th -14th October we were donating 10p from every Indian food order made on hungryhouse to the Love Food Give Food appeal, and thanks to your love of curry we were able to raise £1,513!

Comedy and Curry – A Taste of Hilarity

2012 has been a momentous year, with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the London Olympics, and of course Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival finally marrying curry and comedy.

The UK’s longest running comedy festival which attracts over 60,000 people worldwide, this year opened a spicey new venue, Dave’s Curry House, transforming Leicester’s Chutney Ivy restaurant for the 17 day festival into a curry house of hilarity.

Considering we’re in the midst of National Curry Week, Festival Director Geoff Rowe and Comedian Ben Hustwayte were eager to share the funny food memories.

Madhur Jaffrey: Exploring the Curry Nation

It was a stint in London as a teenager in the late 50s that inspired Madhur Jaffrey, the cook now regarded by many as the world authority on Indian food, to start learning how to make her family’s Indian recipes – why was London responsible for this culinary calling we asked, “Cooking was the only way to get a good Indian meal!”

Jaffrey is said to be responsible for introducing Britain and the western world to Indian cuisine. During her career she’s written over 15 cookbooks, and appeared in a number of successful television cooking shows, making her a household name.

The culinary times have changed drastically, and Jaffrey’s  back to explore the rich Indian food culture the UK now has to offer.

Restaurants Ready For Nationwide Curry Fight

Food lovers across the UK have voted in their favourite curry restaurants, now it’s time for them to prove their city is top of the poppadoms.

Restaurants need to have their wooden spoons ready, as this year’s Curry Capital of Britain Awards are proving to be closer than ever.

We’ve already spoken to city councils and organisers, now it’s time for restaurants to spill the beans on what they’re cooking up for a 2012 win.
