Taste Italy in a Day

And then there were two! Two triumphant goals by ‘Super’ Mario Balotelli, narrowing the 2012 Euro Cup down to two teams, Spain and Italy. As Spain no doubt had plenty of food for thought as they watched Italy defeat Germany, so did we… but it had nothing to do with game tactics.

Maybe the key to the  football success of these two countries  is the fact that they both serve up incredibly delicious food. Or maybe that’s just us looking for another excuse to eat more pizza. Nevertheless in the spirit of the Azzurri, we’re taking you on a culinary day trip to Italy.

EURO 2012: Who to watch and what to eat

EURO 2012 is only a few days away and whilst the teams are preparing for the big stage hungryhouse has taken a look at some of the favourites for this year’s championships whilst giving you some ideas on what to eat whilst watching the teams!

Spain: European Champions 1964, 2008 & Reigning World Champions

Group: C

Chances: Hot favourites

National Dish: Paella

Despite the footballing prowess of Barcelona and Real Madrid, Spain was always regarded as the game’s perennial under-achievers until they took their rightful place as European Champions in 2008, before beating the Netherlands in South Africa two years later to become World Champions. They approach this year’s tournament as stand-out favourites but if they are to make it all the way they will have a harder route than most, as they will line-up against Croatia, Italy and Ireland in Group C – the Group of Death.
