Comedy and Curry – A Taste of Hilarity

2012 has been a momentous year, with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the London Olympics, and of course Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival finally marrying curry and comedy.

The UK’s longest running comedy festival which attracts over 60,000 people worldwide, this year opened a spicey new venue, Dave’s Curry House, transforming Leicester’s Chutney Ivy restaurant for the 17 day festival into a curry house of hilarity.

Considering we’re in the midst of National Curry Week, Festival Director Geoff Rowe and Comedian Ben Hustwayte were eager to share the funny food memories.

Restaurants Ready For Nationwide Curry Fight

Food lovers across the UK have voted in their favourite curry restaurants, now it’s time for them to prove their city is top of the poppadoms.

Restaurants need to have their wooden spoons ready, as this year’s Curry Capital of Britain Awards are proving to be closer than ever.

We’ve already spoken to city councils and organisers, now it’s time for restaurants to spill the beans on what they’re cooking up for a 2012 win.

Betting Your Balti On Birmingham Win?

Birmingham is betting on their signature Balti dishes, which they are working on getting protected EU status for, to bump them ahead of the rest in this year’s Curry Capital of Britain Awards.

As the second most populated city in the UK, there’s a lot of dedicated curry enthusiasts to vote them into top position, so current title holders Bradford better beware. We spoke with Advisor to the Birmingham Balti Association, Andy Munroe to find out about Birmingham’s bid and why their Baltis are something to boast about.

Wolverhampton: Big Hunger for Curry Win!

Their population may be smaller but their curry passion is just as big! And with WV One, an organisation which describes themselves as being at the heart of Wolverhampton, working tirelessly to show Britain that their city is worthy of the Curry Capital title, Bradford and Glasgow better prepare themselves for some new hot competition.
