Taste Italy in a Day

And then there were two! Two triumphant goals by ‘Super’ Mario Balotelli, narrowing the 2012 Euro Cup down to two teams, Spain and Italy. As Spain no doubt had plenty of food for thought as they watched Italy defeat Germany, so did we… but it had nothing to do with game tactics.

Maybe the key to the  football success of these two countries  is the fact that they both serve up incredibly delicious food. Or maybe that’s just us looking for another excuse to eat more pizza. Nevertheless in the spirit of the Azzurri, we’re taking you on a culinary day trip to Italy.

Venerable Vegetables!

This week is National Vegetarian Week in the UK, an annual awareness raising campaign run by the Vegetarian Society to promote the benefits of vegetarianism as well as highlighting various tasty veggie dishes. Events are running throughout the week all over the country in addition to online giveaways and featured recipes which this year are focusing on the vegetarian breakfast. (more…)

National Doughnut Week!

In case you’d somehow missed the big news, this week is national doughnut week! Yes, a whole week dedicated to this most mighty of snacks and all for a good cause too as the proceeds made from the sale of doughnuts at participating bakers across the UK will help to raise money for The Children’s Trust, a national charity which provides care, education and therapy for children with multiple disabilities and health needs.

Though they are probably most associated with the USA (think, for example, of Homer Simpson’s longstanding obsession with them, not to mention Krispy Kremes, Dunkin’ Doughnuts and the numerous other American chains devoted to them), there are in fact variations on the humble doughnut in national cuisines the world over.

Thai Chicken Pizza Recipe

Some classics are best left untouched. I’m referring to classics like The Dukes of Hazzard (suffered from a terrible film remake) or The Who song ‘My Generation’ (suffered from a remake by Hilary Duff). But I’m going to suggest that the classic pizza does not belong in this category. (more…)
