It's a mixed bag from here... The food was cooked well & hot.. The crab claws are processed fish stuck on the end of an actual crab claw & breadcrums - not so impressive! Sweet&sour chicken balls ~ fab. The rest of it was decent enough but none of it tasted very chinesey. A few random sauces were thrown in.. A satay sauce - which tasted ok but didn't go with anything we ordred & a lemon sauce that I'm glad didn't go on my seafood dinner box!! The price & food is right & nice enough for what you get but if you're looking for chinesey tasting food then this aint the place! Won't be going back for more again.

The food was fine but not really worth what i paid. Also I ordered at 7.30pm and it arrived at 9.10pm, on a Sunday night.
I was mainly annoyed as my prawn noodle dish came without noodles... S, SE1

I am a fari person and so here it goes: I ordered FRIED SQUID in SPRING UNION but received just 4 pieces of cooked squid in some soupy something. I ordered KING PRAWN FRIED RICE and receied Special egg fried rice with 5 small shrimps mixed in. I know this because I also ordered special fried rice and it was exactly the same but without the tiny shrimps. I asked for a discount but the store person had no idea what I was talking about. Overall out of 1-10 I rate the CHINAMAN experience as a 4 at best, lucky for them I was extremely hungry and hunger proves to be the best cook in such situations. It arrived within 30min and so I suppose that was a good point.

I've had no problems what so ever with Chinaman, they've always got our order correct and the food seems to be spot on.

I ordered the Singapore Fried Noodles. It consisted of bland overboiled spaghetti-like "noodles" which had little to no flavour. At first I thought there was no seasoning or spice whatsoever, but then found to be clumps of what tasted like dried curry powder which, to my knowledge, is not supposed to be the key (or only!) in spice added to the noodles. The few meat and vegetables added were small and the prawns were not cleaned properly. Completely disappointing.
My friend ordered a chicken dish which she strongly disliked as she said the chicken had an extremely processed texture (I did not taste the dish myself). Neither of us are fussy eaters but neither of us finished our meal. I am not sure if this was just an order which came on a "bad day" as I had not ordered from the outlet before or since, but based on the one order I placed, I would not recommend placing an order. I ordered tom yum soup (prawn), spring roll, white rice and prawn cracker. Firstly the soup. Everyone expects tom yum soup to taste sour and spicy and clear soup, just like how we always order from the thai tom yum soup we fancy. However, this soup tasted like hot and spicy, like that the chinese would call it, suan la tang. The ingredient included was red pepper, green pepper, baby corn and prawn. How does any of these relates to tom yum soup at all? The order was deceiving and when i called the resturant, they told me they have been cooking this way all the while and thats what a tom yum soup should taste like. Im utterly disappointed with the quality of food. The rice even had brown stuff on the bottom as well as on the top. I have no idea what the brown stuff were. The spring rolls were normal, so were the prawn crackers. Overall, i had a very bad experience with chinaman. They refuse to change my order (which i suspect could be a wrong order since it tasted more like suan la tang) and insist that is the way they cook-ed it. Its not the first time i have tom yum soup from take away. I discarded the soup and the rice and ended up paying 8 pounds 60 pence for prawn crackers and spring rolls. I will not recommend this restaurant to anybody and hope you will benefit from my review.
