The Good Earth is consistently one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area.
The food justifies the higher price so if you want a good meal don't be put off by my "Fair" rating on value for money. I am always prepared to try a new local restaurant (and will be sampling the new Chinese in Surbiton tonight) but I usually find myself coming back to the Good Earth for its consistent quality. i ordered delivery waited over 90 minutes and then rang them to find they had me down for collect not delivery, byt the time i got the food it wasn't hot the rice was all dried out, wasn't a good experience at all.

Was very disappointed with the overall quality of the food. The soft shell crab was dry and cold, the beef was cold and overcooked, the only redeeming quality were the rice noodles. Overall a very disappointing meal and very expensive. Would not order from here again.

Expensive but probably worth it - our order took ages and was way past the delivery slot allocated which was a bit frustrating and it wasn't as hot as it could be but best delivery I've had of Chinese food in a long time. Will order again.

The lettuce wrapped chicken was delicious, but the chicken with cashews in yellow bean sauce lacked flavour. Delivery was a little slow

So everyone raves about The Good Earth. I first went there 3 years ago and was underwhelmed. V expensive, average food.
Tried a takeaway to see if they had an off night 3 years ago. No. The one really good dish was the Shanghai chilli chicken. Starters were average, rice and noodles same. The only really surprising thing was the bill. Even with a 20% discount, it was £30 for 2 starters, one main, rice and noodles. Ouch. William, KT10

Was tempted away from my usual chinese takeaway by the 20% first order offer. Nothing to complain about, but IMHO not as good as (and more expensive than) my usual (which is also available on hungry house). Will return to the usual, cap in hand and full of apology...
