The meal was delivered late and the meal was warm. Very disappointed as the service in the past has been
excellent. Joan, YO24

The Korma's had about 4 pieces of chicken in them. The tandor chicken was dry. No pickle tray. The fried chicken was just chicken nuggets and it was over half an hour late and cold. Couldn't eat it and threw it away. Waste of nearly 30 quid.

naan breads were burnt so much that there was charcoal falling off one side, it took nearly 1 and half hours to arrive and was only just warm enough to eat, however, the sauces were amazing, i think the amount of meat and sauce you get should possibly be reflected in the price. the price for each dish was nearly £9 and there was less than one chicken breast in each.

The food arrived very promptly. We ordered popadoms and a pickle tray to start with. The popadoms were good, fresh and very crispy. The pickles were a bit disappointing - a bland mango, with no evidence of fruit, a mixed vegetable and a bottled yogurt and mint, again rather bland. We also had an onion bhaji which had a rubbery texture and wasn't very pleasant to eat. For our main, we both ordered dhansak, mine was chicken and my partner had lamb. There was plenty of meat in both and the flavour was good, the sauce being hot and sour with a little sweetness from the pineapple ring. The chicken in my dhansak was very dry and I was a little disappointed with the overall quality of the food, knowing that this restaurant is capable of providing better.

The food from this restaurant was absolutely excellent. Lal Quila is a little bit more expensive than some takeaways in York but, in this case, you definitely get what you pay for. The flavours and spicing was just right and the sauces were not floury tasting - something I have encountered a lot when ordering from other restaurants in York. The food was late, but then they were very busy - another good sign - and we received a complimentary bottle of wine for our wait, which was a nice touch. All in all a brilliant meal, enjoyed by all six of us, we will definitely be going back for more!

The take away was ready when I called, the staff were pleasant and attentive. The food was good but a little small in portion as far as the balti was concerned. I would use them again.

Not very impressed; food wasn't very warm when it was delivered, and there was a portion of rice missing. The curries were also bland; our chicken bhindis weren't remotely spicy, despite being described as "fairly hot", and the garlic naan didn't really taste any different to the plain naan.
A shame, since eating in at the restaurant has always been good. J, YO31

THE MEAT DISH WAS GOOD BUT THE SPECIAL VEGATABLE MASALA TASTED LIKE LARGE CHUNKS OF FROZEN VEG IN A TINNED CURRY SAUCE AND FAR FAR TOO MILD AND BLAND. A REAL SHAME. IT ARRIVED ON TIME BUT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT WE GOT.
