Our love for takeaway could climb the highest mountain and swim the deepest sea. It's clear that Valentine's day has hungryhouse thinking about love. This Review of the Week is also about love ... sort of.
We're not entirely sure if our Review of the Week winner actually enjoys the food from Leytonstone Spice, or if it's all about the delivery driver. We think that delicious food alone does not instantly qualify a restaurant as a top performer. Leytonstone Spice clearly agrees, and takes good service to an inspiring level.
Our Valentine's week winner Christina has us all tangled up in her takeaway love story. She has left all of us at hungryhouse HQ wondering what will happen next.
Our Review of the Week winner, Henry, was feeling very emotional after enjoying his takeaway from Cafe Zia (furthering our hunch that a proper meal with the right flavours inspires poetic verse). His takeaway was so good, he was nearly unable to translate the language of his taste buds into mere words. Fortunately for us, he did.
We believes Henry was channeling a certain bard when he wrote this review. This belief was solidified when he ended his review with a metaphor linking naan to a cuddle from heaven. Henry wins £25 because we want him to have another "party in his mouth."
We now give you the a heart felt review about a man and his Indian takeaway.
There are so many legitimate reasons to treat oneself to a takeaway that hungryhouse stopped counting at #306. Our Review of the Week winner Michael has put "living in an airport hotel" at the top of the "legitimate reasons to order takeaway list."
We're not going to disagree with you, Heathrow Airport is a lovely place to indulge in relaxation and comfort - we all know that. However, Michael was looking for a little something more. hungryhouse app and Ocean City to the rescue!
Michael wins £25 from hungryhouse that he can spend at any of our partner restaurants, we're not going to limit him to that hotel.
Stage lights on, assemble worshipers, queue the music - the Divine Dough has arrived! Our Review of the Week winner, Samantha, confesses her passionate love for Tony's Fish and Pizza Bar.
There's enough love in this review to warrant a marriage proposal, spontaneous expression of loyalty via social media, and a "Last Meal" request.
Oh yeah, she also mentions the food. Samantha wins £25 from hungryhouse for leaving a review that reminds us how delightful a good takeaway experience can be.
Some things just don't fit (no, we're not talking about your trousers from year twelve. Toss them out, they will never fit again). hungryhouse is talking about food pairings that sound so odd you can only imagine a military stand-off in your mouth.
Our Review of the Week winner, Michael, proves our naive taste buds wrong with his brilliant reasoning behind the combination of a sugary coconut naan and anything spicy. His review of Kismat Tandoori dares us to venture beyond the usual, even though our comfort zone of chicken tikka masala with PLAIN naan is oh so comfy.
Michael wins £25 for his review that is sure to create a coconut following.
It has been said that the first day of a new year will represent the entire year to come. If that's the case, let it begin with delicious food!
Our Review of the Week winner did exactly that by starting off 2012 with a tasty meal from May Va. Lu and her friends were in recovery mode from the previous nights celebration (as was most of the world) and were delighted to have someone else do the cooking and the dishes. There was a minor battle over the limited number of spring rolls, but our friend Lu managed to come out on top.
Lu can order a double portion of spring rolls next time, because she has won £25 from hungryhouse for her review.
Sometimes the best things are right under your nose, you just need a little nudge to find them. This is how our Review of the Week winner, John, discovered Sukaria - a local Chinese takeaway in his neighbourhood.
Not only did John easily order online using a special offer, but he managed to please the whole family with his takeaway selection. He also scored points when the takeaway arrived just in time for the finals of Strictly Come Dancing.
With a happy family, satisfied appetite and £25 from hungryhouse - John ends 2011 right.
Closing time at a restaurant can mean a number of things for the quality of your takeaway. Especially on a Sunday night when productivity seems to shut down a bit early - we all know how that goes.
Michael, our Review of the Week winner was pleasantly surprised by the quality of his last minute order from Kashmiri Spice. Even though he barely made the minimum order value for delivery, he was served a variety of tasty sauces and a fresh salad to accompany his main course.
This review also reminds us why online ordering is just so much better than that 20th century order-by-phone-business!
Michael wins £25 for discovering a takeaway that shines even in the late night hour.
There's something about Christmas time that makes us crave comfort.
Our Review of the Week winner, Hash, was feeling a bit nostalgic after enjoying a meal from Bundu Khan. Was it the season? Or perhaps the inviting smell of a favourite dish done right that had him thinking of home.
Hash attributes the tasty meal to the spice and the style of Bundu Khan's chicken makhani. Even with a less than pipping hot meal which was a tidbit on the oily side, he was delighted by the "best meal in London."
Hash's wins £25 from hungryhouse for painting a picture of memorable nights in India - and leaving a great review.
Converting is not a task for amateurs. Just ask our Review of the Week winner Ms. Pulfer who converted her friend from a chips-only-eater to a Chinese Food Champion!
Ms. Pulfer was delighted by her takeaway experience with China Pearl. She and her friends enjoyed the golden chips, loads of vegetables in the hefty portion of chow mein, and the cheerful delivery driver at the front door.
Ms. Pulfer wins £25 for leaving a review that has a little something for everyone.
