Review of the week

Blue Moon, Tufnell Park

Blue Moon, Tufnell Park

Ahh, those guilty pleasures... Whether it's that Spice Girls song that no-one knows you like, or the jumbo size pack of chocolate hobnobs hiding in the back of your cupboard. We all have them!

The dilemma is excruciating. You know you want to polish off the whole pack of hob nobs, but equally, you know that you will pay for it later. Our Review of the Week winner Anna seems to have found the answer though; order Thai from the Blue Moon, and keep all the pleasure whilst removing the guilt!

Now if only she can show me how to get 'When 2 become 1' out of my head....

"Takeaways are so often a guilty pleasure. Pleasure in the first instance, with the relief of eating tastily, quickly and without all that prep. Then, the inevitable guilt afterwards, when you realise that the experience didn't quite meet the expectation, leaving you with that greasy, slightly debauched feeling... NOT so with Blue Moon.

The food is well-balanced and leaves you free of 'takeaway guilt'. We ordered Chicken Tom Kha soup, and it was perfumed, rich and delicious, generously flavoured with galangal and lemongrass. Pad Thai Jay and Yum Nua (beef salad) were fresh and spicy, redolent with fish sauce, coriander, peanut and chilli.

The flavours are far more complex and subtle than I would usually expect for takeaway Thai. Service is good (could always be quicker), and food is always well packaged. Takeaway from Blue Moon really does approximate the experience of a restaurant meal. We continue to return."
