Top Takeaways 2013 – The UK’s Best Takeaways Revealed!

It’s a big day here for us here at hungryhouse as we’re hugely excited to be revealing the UK’s Top Takeaways in 2013.

For the first time ever, hungryhouse has compiled a list of the top takeaways across the nation.  We looked at all of the data on the 11,000 restaurants on the hungryhouse platform and created rankings based on restaurant popularity, customer reviews and return rates.

We’ve separated the results by cuisine type and area, looking at the cities of London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bradford as well as Scotland.  You can find out more about your nearest Top Takeaway and read about some of the best restaurants on our Top Takeaways mini-site.

The Top Asian Takeaways in ManchesterThe London curry house Millennium Tandoori topped the charts with consistent five star ratings and excellent reviews plus the site’s highest return rate.  Lin Wok’s Chinese restaurant in Birmingham came in a close second followed by the Leeds-based Pizza King and Corriander.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll also be featuring our Top Takeaways video series.  We travelled to five cities in the UK to gain an insight into the world of a Top Takeaway restaurant.  First up, we visited Alif Grill, a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean restaurant in Manchester (warning – video will make you hungry).

Feeding a passion to be part of the restaurant industry, and also their cravings for fresh grilled lamb chops, fish, chicken, veggies and halloumi, a group of tight-knit friends and family started Alif Grill on Cheetham Hill.  Nowhere in the area offered the type of Middle Eastern & Mediterranean grilled food they desired, so the boys bought themselves a coal fired grill, and using family skills and traditions, experimented to create what is now the menu of their (and locals’) dreams.  Not only is the food at Alif Grill cooked using fresh, tasty ingredients, quality and service is something the team prides themselves on. Orders are processed quickly and customers are kept up-to-date on delivery times.
