For thousands of students nationwide, the dreaded exam season is looming which will mean hitting the books bigtime for the next few weeks. Whether you're doing some last-minute cramming for an exam, completing your coursework or finishing off that epic dissertation, one thing's for sure, a good diet can go a long way in helping you get the grades.
So-called brain foods have been proven to aid memory, improve concentration and increase energy levels. Particular winners are wholegrains foods, oily fish, leafy vegetables and fruits high in vitamins and antioxidants, such as blueberries.
This is all well and good but in the highly stressful time of exams when time is of the essence, it's often hard to find time to get to the supermarket let alone cook up a superfood feast. Well luckily this is where hungryhouse comes into play! Not just famed for the traditional takeaway fare of pizza and curry, there's also numerous healthy options available that'll help your overworked brain stay on track and maintain your high energy levels. Here's a few hungryhouse takeaway ideas that'll help you get the grades you want.
In 1762 when John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, fatefully asked for ‘some slices of meat between two pieces of bread’, he probably never imagined that he would be starting a culinary trend. I’m sure that someone uttered the fateful words; ‘it’ll never catch on’.
250 years later and the world of sandwiches is bigger and more diverse then ever, from the humble cheese and tomato, to the majestic BLT.
In homage to this king of stomach fillers we carried out our very own scientific study (i.e. a Facebook poll) to discover the nations favourite sandwiches, here’s what we learnt.
In case you’d somehow missed the big news, this week is national doughnut week! Yes, a whole week dedicated to this most mighty of snacks and all for a good cause too as the proceeds made from the sale of doughnuts at participating bakers across the UK will help to raise money for The Children’s Trust, a national charity which provides care, education and therapy for children with multiple disabilities and health needs.
Some classics are best left untouched. I'm referring to classics like The Dukes of Hazzard (suffered from a terrible film remake) or The Who song 'My Generation' (suffered from a remake by Hilary Duff). But I'm going to suggest that the classic pizza does not belong in this category.
Don't get me wrong; a classic Italian pizza with tomato sauce, fresh grated cheese and pepperoni is a legendary thing. However, I will argue that there are endless possibilities when it comes to pizza. Mind you, this is a statement coming from someone who likes pineapples on pizza, truly believes there is no wrong way to eat a creme egg and doesn't mind a good rationing of HP sauce on BBQ meat.
That being said, I'm going to share my delicious recipe for Thai chicken pizza.

07/05 UPDATE: The winner has been notified! We hope to get photos from the premiere. We'll keep you posted.
Easter has come and gone, Christmas is miles away, and your birthday may or may not be in the next 2 months. These three things combined made us feel that you need a pizza party!
We asked you beautiful people: "Who's on your dream pizza party guest list?"
Your answers were remarkable! Our heads went spinning as we imagined the epic, and not so epic, pizza party guest lists. From the political (Margrette Thatcher), to the violent (Hitler and Genghis Khan), and the totally insane (The one armed, one horned flying purple people eater) we want to be invited to your party!
and the winner of the hungryhouse pizza party is ....
Picture this: you and your new iPad, walking down the street, hand in ... erm ... stunning retina display screen. This can become reality if you take the hungryhouse Timeline Challenge.
We've told you a little story on Facebook and we want you to get involved! 10 challenge questions lead you across our Facebook Timeline to tell the tale of a house that got hungry ('challenge' is a stretch, they're really more like quirky questions). If you answer all 10 correctly you're looking at 3 raffle tickets for the iPad draw. Answer them incorrectly and we'll ring your grade 5 teacher and tell her you failed. Although, we'll give you one raffle ticket for trying.
To get you excited about winning the new iPad, we put together a few things to do with your new toy.
1) Order food from hungryhouse! According to the experts (us), food tastes better when you order online. hungryhouse.co.uk is 95% optimised for iPad use [95% of the time it works all the time] ... so go ahead, tap your order away!
2) Buy a ridiculous iPad case. We pre-ordered the handmade Italian alligator skin case, but then cancelled when we realised it was $4,999 - not $4.99. The extra $4,994.01 really put us over budget, so we opted for the 'air' case instead ... it was free.
3) Download Epicurious app. We like takeaway, yes, it's true. We also like creative apps that tell you exactly what to cook when you only have ketchup, beer, and garlic in the fridge. It isn't pretty, but we still like the app.
4) Download Kindle app. Or ... you can win the new Kindle Touch from hungryhouse. Keep tabs on our Facebook page to find out how!
Everyone has heard the story of Saint George and dragon. But beyond the legend, how much about the man do we actually know? Our inquisitive nature, dedication to the truth, and a lazy wednesday afternoon led hungryhouse to investigate. So, here are some things that you might not know about our mysterious patron Saint.
That's right, 5000 takeaways on hungryhouse! We used to track the number of takeaways online using pretzel sticks, but we got hungry one day and suddenly lost count. Oh, 2006, those were the good old days.
Really though, this is just the beginning for hungryhouse. We are pleased to offer you even more choice when it comes to your takeaway delivery options. To all our customers out there, thank you for enjoying the ride with us. What began with only 9 restaurants in central London, has grown to a community of food lovers across the UK.
Without wishing to sound like a Grammy acceptance speech, we'd like to thank our mums, all our partner restaurants, and of course the hungry people of the UK who keep us going! Is your favourite takeaway not one of the 5000? Tell us about your favourite takeaway here, and we'll send our team on a takeaway mission!
We're clearly advocates of the all mighty takeaway. But there's no sense in denying the dine-out gene that is an inevitable part of our DNA. We enjoy food from start to finish - whether we cook it ourselves, order takeaway online, or wine and dine about town. Good food is what it's all about. To share our love for food, we treated one hungryhouse customer to a night in with her very own personal chef, Mark of Chez Vous Cuisine.
Chez Vous Cuisine specialises in bringing the elegance and taste of a restaurant experience, directly to your home. Personal chef Mark is known for his 25+ years of culinary experience and his 2 appearances on MasterChef, where he made it to the quarter finals. Nadia, our winner, was cooked a beautiful dinner in the comfort of her own home - with personal waiters to boot! Here are a few pictures of the wonderful evening.
