Payments and refunds

I'm having trouble paying in checkout

Many issues can be solved by clearing your browser's cache, switching browsers, or trying another payment method.

Some payment issues mean that the transaction hasn't passed our security checks or those of your payment provider. In these cases it is best to first check with your bank, card provider or PayPal to make sure they are not rejecting the payment.

If in doubt, we'd advise you to contact a member of the hungryhouse team before trying again in order to avoid the potential for a double-charge or duplicate order. We will check whether an order or payment has come through, or if a payment has been rejected or cancelled.

As always, be careful when entering your payment details, ensure there are sufficient funds available, and never hesitate to get in touch with us if you're having trouble!

My discount/offer isn't working

To redeem any offers with hungryhouse we require that an online payment method is used.

For restaurant-specfic offers there may be a variety of limitations, for example a minimum order value or the exclusion of set meals. Usually only one discount per order can be redeemed; if there is more than one offer available be sure to tick your preferred offer in your basket.

What's the refund process?

Online paid orders made from your hungryhouse member account will initially be refunded back to you as account credit, you can then use that account balance to re-order elsewhere.

For online paid orders made through guest accounts, a link will be sent to you via email whereby you can upgrade your account to use the funds on a re-order.

If you choose not to re-order, the funds will leave hungryhouse at 5 am.

Processing times vary depending on your provider. Please allow up to 3 working days for credit cards, and up to 5 working days for ApplePay and AndroidPay. PayPal is usually credited in a matter of hours.

In the case of cash refunds, these will be provided by the restaurant directly.

I've paid with PayPal and need a refund

If  you have paid via PayPal with a credit or debit card the refund will be applied to your bank account. This may take up to 3 working days to appear.

If you paid via PayPal with a bank account or PayPal balance the refund goes into your PayPal account. This is instant. If you paid with a bank account and want this returned to your bank account you will need to request that PayPal transfer this money back to your bank account.

I need a refund, what happens next?

Sometimes you may require a refund. We are here to help when this kind of stuff happens. If you require a refund on a cash order the best thing to do is contact the restaurant directly. The money was paid to the driver and not to hungryhouse and we cannot issue a cash refund.

If you have paid online then you are welcome to call us. If your order is refunded on the same day it was placed, the refunded money will stay on your hungryhouse account for the remainder of the day. This is in case you would like to place another order on that day. If no order is placed, the money will automatically be refunded to your bank account. This may take up to 3 working days to appear in your account.

If the refund is made after the day the order was placed, we will issue the refund to your bank account immediately. The money may take up to 3 working days to appear in your account.
